Grim Reminders is the seventh standard KeyForge set, and was revealed as a stretch goal from the Winds of Exchange Gamefound Campaign

Similar to Winds of Exchange, Ghost Galaxy also funded the publishing of Grim Reminders through a Gamefound campaign of its own which launched on October 12, 2023, and was successfully funded. Players who attended KeyForge Celebration 2023 were able to get early access to decks from the set, and backers started to receive their pledges as early as late January 2024. The official release date for English-language decks is March 1, 2024.

The set plays with the theme of "the discarded", with new mechanics interacting with the discard pile in meaningful ways, and the new house Geistoid representing reanimated discarded machines.

House Rotation

  • New: Geistoid
  • Returning: Untamed
  • Rotated Out: Sanctum, Saurian

The scourge of the Geistoids has spread throughout the Crucible, seeking to remake the world in their own image. Each Geistoid minion is a fusion of discarded refuse, animated by psychic energy of Æmber, and driven to wreak vengeance on a neglectful universe.

Untamed returns in Grim Reminders after its only absence in Winds of Exchange. Sanctum and Saurian both rotate out, with this being the first departure for Saurian since its introduction in Worlds Collide.

New Set Mechanics

Scrap: and Haunted

Playing off of the set's theme, Scrap: abilities resolve whenever a card with that ability is discard from a player's hand during their turn, and Haunted effects can manipulate abilities when a player has 10 or more cards in their discard pile.

Discard Bonus Icon

Some cards may be enhanced with a new Discard bonus icon. When a card with a Discard bonus icon is played, that player chooses and discards a card of any house from their hand.

Revenants

In some rare KeyForge: Grim Reminders decks, players may come upon the Revenants, spectral clones of famous characters from the Crucible that have returned from the beyond.

New Keywords: Versatile and Treachery

The Versatile and Treachery keywords see their first primary use in Grim Reminders. These keywords were included in a previous rulebook update and included on some Anomaly cards from Winds of Exchange. These keywords simplify mechanics that were featured in previous cards by consolidating their effects into a single keyword.
