Lore:Saurian
- For the KeyForge house, see: Saurian
Overview
The Saurian Republic is one of the oldest and most successful civilizations of the Crucible. It has existed in some form for millions of years. Though its exact age is unknown, it is believed that the Saurians first arrived on the Crucible about 65 million years ago. Saurian records tell the stories of first contact with archons, which indicates that the Republic is older than even them. The Republic is made up of a number of scattered city-states which act mainly independently, but share a cultural bond which keeps the Republic united in at least a nominal way.
Membership
A vast array of dinosaur species make up the citizenry of the Republic, whose cultural and familial heritages make for one of the most unified any yet disparate organizations on the Crucible. Dinosaurs can range from being smaller feathered beings, reminding one of chickens, to being massive, fearsome beings capable of making a Brobnar giant think twice before attempting to pick a fight.

Relationship with Archons
The pride on display by the Republic gets set aside when dealing with archons. Archons are often seen a equals to the dinosaurs on the ways of battle and philosophy. Archons are always allowed to be attendance of the Saurian Senate and have been known at times to be granted governorship of city states. In many ways archons are the only beings that Saurians see as true equals on the Crucible.
Goals
The Saurian Republic has a few different goals, some of which work cross-purposes with each other. This in many ways is no different than any large nation of people. There are two major factions of Saurians, the Hegemonics, who see the Republic as in decline and seek to restore it to an expansionist power, and the Sequestarians, who believe that the Republic should continue to shrink back from being a war mongering power on the Crucible. Both sides, however, believe that the Republic still has a major role to play on the Crucible, and that the Saurians are the most civilized and enlightened culture to be found.
